The lunch hour is ninety minutes long.

Everything you will take today happens between twelve and half one, and there are three other places on the same street selling the same lunch. Customers tap the sign by the till, their card sits in Apple or Google Wallet, and the eighth lunch is on you.

First month free. Then £39 a month. No contract. Cancel anytime.

The queue is the whole business

A tap takes under two seconds, faster than the card machine says approved. Nothing to stamp, nothing to scan, and nothing that adds a second to a queue that is already out of the door at ten past one.

Three other places sell the same sandwich

That is exactly the point. When lunch is broadly the same everywhere, the card is the reason to walk past the other three, and it is a reason that gets stronger the closer they get to the free one.

You only get five days

A weekday only trade makes the card faster, not slower. A daily lunch customer finishes eight stamps in under a fortnight, which keeps the reward permanently in sight rather than somewhere over the horizon.

Every shop on the street is busy at one. TapReward tells you which of them are the same people, coming back.

Find out who stopped coming on Fridays.

A sandwich shop week has a shape, and the shape has been changing. The dashboard shows attendance per customer rather than per day, so a regular who quietly dropped from five lunches to three shows up as a name instead of a slightly softer Friday total.

How long does the first visit take?
About 15 seconds on their own phone - one email address, no account, no password. Every visit after is one tap.
Do customers need an app?
No. The card goes into the Wallet app already on their phone.
What do staff have to do?
Nothing during a visit. To redeem a reward, a four letter code on any phone or tablet signed in to your dashboard. About five seconds.
What if a tap does not work?
Serve the customer and sort the stamp out afterwards. They can tap on the way out, or you can add it from your dashboard. No queue waits on us.
What happens if I cancel?
Nothing gets deleted. Customers keep their cards and you keep your list.

20% faster

  • The landmark goal-gradient study tracked a real café’s stamp cards and found customers returned sooner as the reward got closer, finishing about 16% quicker than their starting pace implied. A daily lunch habit is where that effect has the most room to work. Kivetz, Urminsky & Zheng, Journal of Marketing Research, 2006
